SUNY Broome students:
Now that we’ve had a week to adjust to our new temporary normal, I want to thank you for your patience and perseverance throughout this challenging time in our history.

Your faculty and staff have worked hard to provide both classes and services to you as much as possible during this period. Please work with them to get yourself through your classes as best you can.

What you learn during this period, if you continue to learn, will serve you so very well for the rest of your life. It’s times like these that build character through perseverance in such a way that we hope you will never see again, so take advantage of it in as positive a way as you possibly can under your individual circumstances. Your success now will carry you further than you ever thought possible and such unique success would not have been possible under normal circumstances.

For a little bit of history, the USS Hornet, along with several other Navy ships, led a major turning point in World War II for US forces and the world. As a Hornet yourself, this period can become a turning point for you in ways none of us could ever have imagined.

We miss seeing you around campus and we look forward to seeing you back on campus in the not too distant future.
