Scot Beekman, SUNY Broome’s Assistant Director of Administrative Information Systems, has received an Individual Collaboration Award from the SUNY Council of CIOs.

Scot has many achievements and was recognized for thinking SUNY-wide as he implements projects. In the letters that the committee
received to support his nomination, the following contributions were highlighted:

  • He is the founder and co-chair of  the SUNY AIRPO (Association of Institutional Research Planning Officers) SIRIS Advisory Group. In his role inside this group he has:
    ○ Been an instrumental part of SICAS’s SIRIS Exception Reporting Focus Group that worked to create exception reporting dashboards
    ○ Assisted with process improvement for campuses to receive timely data submission from SUNY
    ○ Created a sharing repository site and shared extensive documentation for SIRIS
  • He is largely responsible for a SICAS/Broome Starfish/Argos/Banner Collaboration that has led to SUNY Broome being a leader in implementation of the early notification system Starfish. Because of Scot’s success and collaboration, Broome acted as a SUNY Starfish
Mentor Campus for Technical Integration to other SUNY schools implementing Starfish.

The State University of New York (SUNY) Council of Chief Information Officers (CCIO) is a professional association consisting of representatives from each of the 64 campuses within the SUNY system. A primary purpose of the Council is to lead coordinated information technology initiatives within the SUNY system, including strategic planning. More information on SUNY CCIO is available at http://ccio.suny.edu.

The awards are intended to recognize individuals, groups or institutions whose work exemplifies CCIOs efforts to build and support SUNY’s
IT community. The awards will be presented each year during the annual SUNY Technology Conference and represent CCIO’s desire to promote our values of integrity, collaboration, creativity and innovation throughout SUNY’s IT community.
