SUNY Broome hosted its first-ever Junior Robotics Day on March 30 in the Applied Technologies Atrium.

More than 100 students in kindergarten through sixth grade came with their parents and teachers to build, program and test robots. They were assisted by 22 volunteers from Lockheed Martin, Binghamton University, SUNY Broome and local schools including BOCES P-TECH, Union-Endicott, Vestal High School, Owego-Apalachin and Oxford, among others.

Thanks go to BOCES and the Eastern Southern Tier STEM Hub for providing the robot parts needed for the event. A highlight of the event was a demo by U-E’s TigerTronics Robotics Team.

Thank you to Professor Robert Lofthouse, Professor Phyllis O’Donnell and Joe Ozwald for making the event such a success. We hope to make it an annual event!
