Applied Music students started the semester off and running with impressive performances at two Upstate SUNY schools in October.

On October 15, 2017, Brian Tyneway performed at The Classical Guitar Society of Upstate NY’s Collegiate Recital held at SUNY Oneonta. Brian was the only community college student on the program, which also featured students from schools such as Potsdam’s Crane School of Music, Mannes College of Music and SUNY Oneonta. Brian is from the Applied Guitar Studio of Paul Sweeny.

On October 28, 2017, seven Applied Voice students from the studios of Brenda Dawe and Peter Sicilian traveled to SUNY Oswego to compete at the Chapter auditions of the National Association of Teachers of Singing. SUNY Broome was the only community college represented and our students competed against schools such as Ithaca College, Eastman School of Music, SUNY Fredonia and Potsdam’s the Crane School of Music, among many others. Six out of seven of our students advanced to the semi-final round and Kanako Suzuki (student of Peter Sicilian) placed second in Lower Musical Theater —  Women and Darius Fuller (student of Peter Sicilian) placed second in Lower Musical Theater — Men.
