Fall 2018 Resident Assistants

Fall 2018 Resident Assistants

Aug. 12 started Resident Assistant training for returning and new RAs. Over the course of a long two weeks, RAs (including Resident Hall Association members) learned a multitude of things including incident report writing, programming (with RD Alexandria and Student Activities director Jason Boring), the amazing resources we have on campus (with Ann-Marie from the Counseling department) how to handle certain situations that arise, fire drills, professionalism, how to keep their sanity (with faculty mentor Christine Duffy-Webb) and, most importantly, just working as a great team.

The team took some fun trips to Robert Truman State Park, Applebee’s, Director of Housing Amy’s house for a fun BBQ, and the Baptist Church for an amazing dinner. The team also got to hear an inspirational speaker (Coach Dus) on how to become the best versions of themselves, work as a team and listen to each other effectively and, most importantly, get pumped for the semester.

Dr. Ross and President Drumm even stopped by for a Q and A lunch! Christine Duffy-Webb brought the RAs canvases and paint to de-stress before countless hours of doing bulletin boards and finishing up room condition reports.

The Resident Assistants got to learn so much before meeting the new students and they’re ready for anything that gets thrown at them. They would also like to thank RD Alexandria for guiding and feeding them throughout the whole process. They would like to thank all of the presenters that took time out of their day to be with them!
