Student art exhibit depicts Holocaust survivors and victims

The Art Exhibition Series called Faces consists of portraits of Holocaust survivors and non-survivors. It will be on display on the first floor of SUNY Broome’s Cecil C. Tyrell Library until February 2018.

These drawings will be highlighted at a Spring Exhibition at 5 Riverside Drive in March and April 2018, with an Artist Talk by Associate Professor Patricia Evans on the subject matter. Additional portraits have been recently added, supplementing the recent Incubator presentation this past First Friday.

These classical realist life-size portrait drawings are created by Evans’ Beginning Drawing students and rendered in charcoal, pencil and mixed media. Additionally, the original photo and personal story for each person affected by the Holocaust has been researched and is on display.
Administration, faculty, staff, and students are all cordially invited to view the second group of marginalized and overlooked people; the intention is to inspire kindness and compassion toward those that are different.
