SUNY Broome Professor David Zeggert’s oil portrait of John Lennon has been accepted into the Figuratively Speaking exhibition at the Salmagundi Club.

The exhibition is open from Feb. 19 through March 7, with a reception from 6 to 9 p.m. Feb. 28 the club, located at 47 Fifth Avenue and 12th Street in New York City.

Lennon’s portrait is approximately 24 by 24 inches and is inspired by an examination of his features, largely driven by the prominent shapes defining his hair and glasses. The painting was created with a modified Bardwell palette, with the idea of building on successive layers constructed from a murrey colour middle tint.

Professor Zeggert is a member of the SUNY Broome Art and Design department and teaches painting, drawing and illustration.
