Dental Hygiene faculty member Dr. Meghan McGuinness recently published an article in the Dimensions of Dental Hygiene journal (October 2018).
The title of the article is “The Process of Remineralization.” This article provides a review of the process of remineralization and raises awareness among dental hygienists regarding the importance of using a caries management by risk assessment approach to determine the best practices for professional recommendations. As written in the article, oral health professionals are well-positioned to make individualized clinical recommendations regarding diet, oral self-care and product selection in order to encourage remineralization. The article provides a summary of the process of remineralization, predisposing conditions, and treatment recommendations.
