To those enrolled in the New York State Teachers Retirement System (NYSTRS):
SUNY Broome is entitled to have a delegate to represent our NYSTRS members. Delegates have two main functions:
-To elect a teacher member to the Retirement Board at the Annual Delegates Meeting held in November.
-To serve as a liaison between NYSTRS and the members of the college.
SUNY Broome is also entitled to a corresponding alternate, who would carry out these duties if the delegate were unable.
The delegate and/or alternate must be full-time employees and current NYSTRS members. The delegate’s term begins Aug. 1, 2020. If anyone is interested in being a delegate or alternate, please contact Paige Sedlacek at ext. 5213 or sedlacekpm@sunybroome.edu by May 1, 2020 . If more than one person is interested in being a delegate or alternate, the college will hold an election among the NYSTRS members.
