SUNY Broome theater and the Nursing Department have worked together again this semester on the interdisciplinary activity with Nursing’s Aggression Lab. Under the instruction of Nursing’s Grace Solano and Theater director Katherine Bacon, theater students (and Katherine) portrayed aggressive patients so that the nursing students can practice their interactive skills.
The acting students gain experience that they can use obtaining real jobs in the community as Standardized Patients. And nursing students get to practice with real people in a simulated situation. The Aggression lab work has been continuing for about the past three years. Theater and Nursing have worked together for a number of years on and off using the acting students as Standardized Patients.
