Six SUNY Broome voice students and Music Coordinator Brenda Dawe traveled to Nazareth College in march for the Eastern Division Auditions and Conference of the National Association of Teachers of Singing. These students competed with students from many prestigious four-year schools across New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware and West Virginia. SUNY Broome is the only community college that attends this competition.

Three of our students — Marisa Kreidler, Anastasia Alexopoulos and Ronnie Sullivan — advanced to the semi-final round. Anastasia advanced in both the Classical and Musical Theater categories. This is the first time we have had a SUNY Broome student advance in the Sophomore Classical Women category.

Megan MarkAnthony, a former SUNY Broome student now studying at Binghamton University, won the Lower Musical Theater Women category. She competed against two women from the prestigious Eastman School of Music in the final round and took first place! She studies voice at BU with Professor Peter Sicilian, also an adjunct music professor here at SUNY Broome.
