The men’s basketball team dropped a MSAC matchup on the road to Cayuga CC on Thursday night by a score of 89-76.
The Hornets jumped out to a 10 point lead early on in the game, but the Spartans answered back with a run of their own. The home team closed the half with a 31-12 run and took a 39-30 lead into the break.
The Hornets closed the gap at times during the second half but Cayuga eventually pulled away to a 20 point lead. Broome’s comeback attempt late in the game fell short as time ran out.
The scoring effort was led by K-Cie Salmon and Seth Roselle, Jr who each put in 19 points. Salmon knocked down three 3’s and added 5 rebounds while Roselle contributed 4 boards, 4 assists and 3 steals. Cameron Irving-Miller also scored in double digits with 16 points and dished out 7 assists and grabbed 4 rebounds. Matthew Paige finished with 8 points and 9 rebounds, and Garrett Bieber pulled down 8 boards and blocked 3 shots.
Broome returns home on Saturday to face Region III opponent Genesee CC, with the tipoff scheduled for 3:00 pm.
