coronavirus, suny broome update

We are currently monitoring recent closings of other campuses, their rationale, and its relationship to our circumstances. For example, the concentration, size, and travel factors of each college are being considered.

The College’s Incident Management Team has been communicating with a wide range of stakeholders from the campus community, Health Department, and SUNY regarding potential cancellation/postponement of gatherings and events. At this time, each event is being evaluated individually and any cancellations will be communicated via the campus’ regular channels, such as the SUNY Broome Today/Campus Buzz email newsletters, the College Facebook page, and college email.

In addition to preventative sanitation measures being implemented campus-wide, hand-sanitizer dispensers are being installed in the following eight, heavily used, conference rooms:

  • Business – Room 111
  • Decker – The Libous Room and Room 201
  • Ice Center – Events Room
  • Natural Science Center – Room 207G
  • Wales – Room 203A, Room 203B, Suite 107 Conference Room

In addition to cleaning floors and surfaces in the Student Village, disinfecting of daily touch points are also being implemented (elevator buttons, railings, door handles, phones, light switches, and bathroom fixtures). Targeting these areas is the first step in reducing the risk of illness.

As a reminder, for the most up-to-date information, please visit the SUNY Broome Coronavirus Planning and Precautionary Measures site often. Additionally, we’ve created a Frequently Asked Questions webpage to respond to inquiries from the community.
