Sleepout for the HomelessJoin Student Assembly for the 9th Annual Homeless Awareness Sleepout!

More than 17,000 individuals experienced homelessness throughout the Southern Tier last year alone. Of these individuals, 173 families accessed local emergency shelters, with 403 of them being children under the age of 5 years. The goal of the Homeless Awareness Sleepout is to help the Southern Tier Homeless Coalition to bring resources to families and individuals struggling with homelessness.
What is the sleepout?
The Homeless Awareness Sleepout is an event designed to raise funds for the Southern Tier Homeless Coalition. SUNY Broome students sleep out on campus for one night, and have their family and friends sponsor them to do so! There’s food, music, entertainment and an awesome community, all coming together to make an impact on homelessness in our community.
Want to get involved?
Use the attached sponsor sign-up sheet to collect sponsors for the event! Go to family, friends, neighbors — everyone you know! — and ask them to support you in sleeping out for homelessness. By sleeping out and gaining sponsors, you are helping the Southern Tier Homeless Coalition to eradicate homelessness in our community. When you find someone who wants to sponsor you to sleep out, simply have them fill in the information in the attached sheet — or do it yourself, if you want! — and be sure to send thank-you notes to your sponsors after the event is over, so they know how much of an impact they helped you make!

The person who collects the most donations through their sponsors will win a $25 gift card to a local restaurant!
