Want to enjoy some timeless comedy and, at the same time, score some points with your professors?

Why not attend a performance of Oscar Wilde’s classic farce “The Importance of Being Earnest,” directed by SUNY Broome Professor Mary E. Donnelly?

Performances will be 7 p.m. March 23, 29 and 30 and 3 p.m. March 24 and 31 in the annex of the Bundy Museum of History & Art, 129 Main St., Binghamton. The production is a fundraiser for the museum and the Summer Savoyards, a Broome County theater company best known for presenting Gilbert & Sullivan operettas every summer.

Cast members are Jamie Cook (John “Jack” Worthing), Chelsea Cleary (Algernon Montcrieff), Jessica Pullis (Lady Bracknell), Julia Adams (Gwendolen Fairfax), Samantha Sloma (Cecily Cardew), Krista Guidici (Miss Prism), Adam Ruff (The Rev. Dr. Chasuble), Eriksen Goetz (Lane) and Nick Merrell (Merriman).

In “The Importance of Being Earnest,” two young gentlemen living in 1890s England – Jack and Algernon — use the same pseudonym (“Ernest”) on the sly, which is fine until they both fall in love while using that name. That leads to a comedy of mistaken identities.

Tickets are $18 (students/seniors, $15); seating is limited. To purchase in advance, visit www.summersavoyards.org/tickets. Snacks and beverages, including beer, wine and a signature cocktail, will be available for purchase.

The Savoyards and the Bundy will share the net profits from ticket sales. Proceeds from the concessions and a basket raffle will benefit the Savoyards’ July production of G&S’s “The Yeomen of the Guard.”
