In Memoriam logoGerald “Jerry” Freeman, a retired sociology professor, passed away on Aug. 19, 2018, at his summer home in Chapman Lake, Florida. He was 79 years old.

A native of Scranton who had also lived in Endicott, Professor Freeman taught at SUNY Broome for 32 years and was named professor emeritus upon retirement.

He and his wife of 57 years, Leona Polansky Freeman, lived in Hutchinson Island, Florida. He is also survived by his daughter Krista Smith and son-in-law Mark Smith of Bentonville, Arkansas, grandson Parker and daughter Claire.
