Hornets basketball team member Anna Hotalen was honored as the NJCAA Division III Player of the Week for her play during the week beginning on Jan. 14.  Read more: NJCAA Players of the Week – Jan. 14 – Jan. 20

This was the third time the Freshman forward has been honored for her efforts in the last two weeks. She also earned the Region III Player of the Week honors during the same time frame.  

The Vestal High School graduate led Broome in scoring and rebounding in a loss against the NJCAA’s fifth ranked Onondaga Lazers on Tuesday night, putting in 16 points and grabbing a collegiate high 22 boards. In the Hornets win against Cayuga on Thursday she posted another collegiate high, this time it was in the scoring column dropping 35 points, 25 of those in the second half.  Anna also posted another double-double by grabbing 20 rebounds in the contest. For the week Hotalen averaged 25.5 ppg and 21 rpg as well as 2 steals, 2 blocks and an assist.

She was also named MSAC Player of the Week for Jan. 7 – Jan. 13 when she posted back-to-back double-doubles to help Broome get out to a 1-1 start to begin MSAC play the week of Jan. 7.  She averaged 11.5 points and 16 rebounds in the win against Finger Lakes on Thursday and loss to Tompkins Cortland on Saturday. She also added 3 steals and a block to her totals for the week.
