An image of a rose in black and whiteColleagues: I’m sure you are all aware of the tragic events that took place in Pittsburgh this past Saturday at the Tree of Life Synagogue. Our “Freedom of Worship” that is so ingrained in the soul of America, a founding principle for our nation which brought so many colonists here and countless immigrants since, is at stake today for our Jewish and Muslim sisters and brothers in humanity. In the wake of this horrific loss of life and crime against humanity, the Governor has ordered state flags at half-mast in honor of those mercilessly and senselessly slain in Pittsburgh. SUNY Broome will follow with our flag at half-mast in honor of the dead and in opposition to hatred and bigotry everywhere it exists.

With deepest sympathy to our Jewish sisters and brothers here and across the nation and around the world,
