Focus on Accomplishments logoDr. Bill Altman, a professor of Psychology & Human Services at SUNY Broome Community College, was inaugurated as the Vice President for Resources of The Society for the Teaching of Psychology (STP is Division 2 of the American Psychological Association) on Jan. 1.

STP advances the scholarship of teaching and learning, encourages professional development, and develops and shares resources and services with a collaborative community of psychology instructors at any level of the educational community. Dr. Altman is responsible for overseeing the development, maintenance and functioning of the society’s print and online resources as well as support services for the benefit of members. These include the Office of Teaching Resources in Psychology (a repository of teaching methods, advising, and other useful resources for instructors), Project Syllabus (a collection of peer-reviewed syllabi for nearly every psychology class), the Teaching of Psychology Idea eXchange (ToPIX is a wiki resource of methods, examples, and materials for psychology instructors), the STP Department Consulting Services, the STP Professional Development Mentoring Network , the APA journal Teaching of Psychology, publication of STP’s electronic books on teaching, research and advising, and the electronic blogs E-xcellence in Teaching and This Is How I Teach.
