Dental Hygiene students participated in extensive outreach efforts this semester.

The students provided education to approximately 800 local school children for Children’s Dental Health Month (also presentations were given at our BC Center and the Otsego County Head Start Centers). The senior students also volunteered for the Southern Tier Oral Cancer Walk for Awareness, Mothers and Babies Perinatal Network and the 37th annual Children’s Fair.

Lastly, students have been involved with a research study entitled, “Does Equine Assisted Pediatric Dental Health Education Improve Learning Outcomes?” The research study is being conducted by Helen Battisti from Marywood University and Meghan McGuinness from SUNY Broome.
