Think of Aubrey Vroman as your hospitality concierge.

A member of SUNY Broome’s Admissions team, she is dedicated to guiding prospective students interested in the hospitality field, including the college’s new Culinary Arts degree program.

She’s more than just a recruiter, however. Aubrey is a SUNY Broome alumna herself – a graduate of the Hotel and Restaurant Management program – and has worked in the restaurant industry for 11 years. In fact, when she’s not at the college, she is working at the CopperTop Tavern in Vestal as a server and a floating manager.

“I like the fast pace aspect of it, always being on your feet and never sitting still,” she said.

SUNY Broome prepared her well, and she described their hospitality degree programs as both “eye-opening” and thorough.

“Most students, when they apply, think that they’re just going to be cooking and working events and taking a few business classes. But it’s a lot more than that,” she said. “Although cooking food is fun, the courses and program are going to be challenging. There’s going to be a lot to learn – and that’s going to help you further yourself on the career path you want.”
