BIT 209: IT for WomenThe BIT department is proud to announce a new course: BIT 209 — IT for Women, offered Fall 2018! Join us in this exploration of digital literacy and digital citizenship, designed for women across disciplines.

This computer literacy course will introduce core IT tools and explore the social context of women and IT today. Digital skills include word processing, spreadsheet, database, presentation, cloud, analytic, mobile and social technologies.

Explore the history of women in IT, the cultural bias against women’s use of IT, the portrayal of women in social media platforms, the empowerment of women through these technologies, and intersectional feminism as a framework of analysis.

The class runs from 10:30 to 11:45 a.m. Mondays and Wednesdays, and is taught by Professor Sandra Wright. Click here for more information about our Business Information Technology programs.
