Greetings from the SUNY Broome Admissions Office.
Happy holidays! We are happy to share a summary of what’s going on in the world of admissions and recruitment this past fall. It’s been busy in our office and it’s time to share.
The Admissions Office has been hard at work reaching prospective students in many ways. College Express events have been held with 5 schools and approximately 325 students. We are in talks with other districts to expand the event further this spring. Instant admit events have been held at 6 schools with approximately 100 students, and our travel to meet students off site has already increased 30% over last year. On campus; since August our office has taken 156 people on campus tours, hosted 24 group visits, and held over 400 one on one meetings with students.
Here at SUNY Broome have been working with partners to update our processes including Educational Opportunity Programs, Housing, STEM, Health Sciences and Athletics. We are cultivating our relationships with off campus partners as well and implementing routine updates as part of SUNY’s initiatives. We also have fully integrated the SUNY application, downloading directly into our Slate software, and on through to Banner to increase efficiency and data collection.
Lastly, the Mobile Enrollment Vehicle has been on the move across campus and throughout the community. Looking ahead to this spring and summer we will be taking the vehicle to many events and local partners. This is meant to serve populations of students who may have a harder time accessing the campus. By meeting students in these rural and underserved spaces we are working to serve those communities in the best way possible.
