April 21 art talk to focus on female artists throughout history

Cooperative Gallery 213 on State Street in Binghamton is offering “You’ve come a long way, Baby…?” — a free talk by artist and art historian Judy Salton at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 21.

You have probably heard of DaVinci, Vermeer, Renoir, but do you know their female counterparts? Come see the work of women artists of the Italian Renaissance, Dutch Painters, French Impressionists, women Surrealists and the new artists of today. Learn of their struggles to produce art in their time, how their art differs from their male contemporaries and some of the continuing struggles of today’s women artists. Their work is compelling, beautiful, forceful and radical – and some of it will astound you.
