Symbols depicting physical, mental, auditory and visual disabilities. In recognition of Disabilities Awareness Month, SUNY Broome’s Accessibility Resources Office (ARO), will host Allies for Inclusion: The Ability Exhibit, from Oct. 24 to 26 in the Library art gallery. The event is sponsored by the President’s Task Force on Diversity and Inclusion (PTODI).

This interactive display from Saint Louis University is designed to promote the inclusion of people with disabilities through respect for others, comfort during interactions and awareness of disability issues. Using a multi-media approach, the exhibit provides 10 interactive stations designed to build awareness about people with disabilities and the disability movement, and offers suggestions for becoming disability allies and educators.

Faculty who would like to schedule a class visit are encouraged to contact ARO at x5150 or aro@sunybroome.edu to reserve a time. Volunteers to staff the event are also sought and encouraged to contact ARO.
